Matthew Louis Ayoob

As a student at Stanford University from West Virginia, I am pursuing a double major in Computer Science and Music with a 4.0 GPA. As a senator, elected by and representing 7,000 undergraduates, my platform includes inclusive education, accessible mental health resources, and more.

I'm passionate about computer science and using those skills to help underrepresented communities. On campus, I am a teaching assistant for Stanford’s Code in Place (introductory Python) / Philosophy Writing (ESF 18) and am a student ambassador for Stanford computer forum–connecting thousands of Stanford students to technical recruiters, planning company informational talks, and setting up the CS Career Fair. I’ve also been awarded the Stanford Music Scholarship (7x). I am optimistic, enthusiastic, and introspective. I love publishing pieces, public speaking, singing, drawing, and coding. My contact is mayoob @ stanford.edu.

My technical experiences include a data science internship at Meta (2022 Summer), a software engineering internship at Edstruments (2021 Summer), and being a Graphic Design Intern at Club Cardinal. My coursework includes Programming, Data Structures & Algorithms, Systems, Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Introduction to Human Computer Interaction, User Interface Design Project, Social Computing, HCI research, Statistics, Entrepreneurship, Linear Algebra, Multivariable Calculus, & Several Variable Integral Calculus. This has developed my fluency in Python, SQL, C++, Java, C, React Native.

Some notable technical projects include my startup, Plates (React Native); Implicit and Explicit Heap Allocator (C); Naïve Bayes Classifier for Spam Email Distinction (Python), Huffman Coding Compression and Decompression Algorithm (C++); and Bak-Tang-Wiesenfeld Falling Sand Model (C++). I am happy to provide more at request.

In high school, I was proud to be Valedictorian, a National Merit Scholar, Student Body President, and Varsity Cross Country Captain--earning a 4.7 GPA. As a novice writer I felt empowered talking about poignant issues, such as my long term project on gun violence in schools . My articles of social justice & political nature, cover illustrations, and art pieces have been published 25+ in high school. An excerpt of my article was shared on Twitter by a HuffPost Senior Editor in 2019. Accordingly, I am excited to continue writing throughout college and for Stanford University.
